Redrilling 5 stud VXR discs to 4x100..

I have what many of you will consider a stupid project, BUT i joined this forum as it seems to have quite a few wild and wondefull projects, that and i spend most of my spare time on here reading RC's unit and numerous projects threads.

I have 2001 Renault Scenic 1.8 16v F4P Sport into which i have just put my old Renault Sport Clio 182 F4R Engine and hopefully sometime this year will get the time + money to fit the Mercedes SL 230 Kompressor Supercharger to it that ive been storing for near on a year now..

As in tittle i need a bit of advice on Redrilling 5 stud VXR discs to 4x100..

For a start has anyone on her done it? and if so did it work out?

I have the front discs, Callipers, pads and bolts from a 2008 Clio 197 cup car, which uses 312mm 28mm thick 66MM offset discs which as The Scenic (being a sport) uses 280mm 25mm thick 44mm offset discs means theyre waaaaayyy too offset and spacers BEHIND the discs are beyond dodgy and they would need redrilling anyway.

the Astra VXR which is as far as im aware the CLOSEST i can get to what i want is 321mm 28mm thick, 44.9mm offset discs only problem being is instead of 4x100 stud pattern they are 5x112?

I have overlayed a 4x100 stud pattern over a 5x112 stud pattern roughly and am wondering wether they will have enough clean meat left for the clamping force of the discs?

Before anyone saids to get custom... I do ALL the work myself and ALL done in spare time as i run my own Car body repair and paint shop so its also done on a budget so as to be able to justify it all.

any oppinions welcome, Thankyou in advance

ive redrilled my saab discs which are the same as vxr discs to 4x100 and they came out like below so still had a fair bit of meat left as you have done its best to make use of what holes you can and elongate the holes you can

    sounds like an interesting project

Yea redrilling a 5stud disc to 4stud is no problem if you have a template like you have done. I have done it many times now myself.
On Vauxhalls you need to add a spiggot ring to the 4 stud hub as its smaller centre diameter than the 5stud hub, so you may have to get something made up if your french hub centre is smaller than an astra or have the disc taken out if its bigger.

Thankyou very much both of you for the replies, confirmed what i thought :-) and yes ill put up some pictures later tommorrow when on my propper PC.

Nige got to say your Discs dont look as bad as i thought they would, if you dont mind me asking, if yours are the 321mm discs ive been looking at, what other cars are they fitted to like the Saaab etc you mention? as at the moment i cant get a price less than £110 for a pair due to the VXR premium price tag.. and thats through my Trade account.

    thanks again

Re: Redrilling 5 stud VXR discs to 4x100..

f1's are the sweetest wheels ever, i DESPERATELY wanted a set for the scenic but they go for far too much money :-( and the set i found cheep were 5 pin VW... yours are damn rare at 4 pin 4x100 :-/

ps quick photo of the Scenic

Yes i do run it that low :P for anyone that starts with the "it wont handle" "its not practical" ... I have had a 54 reg 206 GTi 180 full on show quality car with Konis, the works had a Ph1 Clio 172 specced up, Corsa Sports, Punto Sportings etc and NOTHING comes near my scenic which is why i actually sold the 206 and kept this... :-D

Also did both of you drill thm discs yourselves or have them done by an engineering firm? as i was gonna have them done by the place that does my head skims and helicoils etc BUT i have been told £20 a disc today so... Well.. if i can do it safely myself i will
