did you have a bit of practice on some scrap metal before you started,it looks as if your amperage is a bit too low and wire speed not set right .i have similar problems changing between my welder and the one at work the answer is always practice on a bit of steel first and mess about with your settings before you start on what you want to weld

First thing that strikes me in the pics is that you need to clean up the metal around the weld a lot further away from it.

Having just done mine in a similar place and guessing, I used 2 max on the switch settings and 5.5 wire speed with 0.6mm wire.

Also, I suspect your travel speed is too high, try moving the tip in small circles (4-5mm diameter) to build more heat in the area without burning through.

your prep is causing you the problems get the area as clean as possible as it looks like your not getting a good earth, also if possible get the earth a lot closer, worst case just tack a small bolt to the plate and attach the earth to that and when finished just snap it off or grinnd it off

i have the hole was only abit larger than a 50p the plate welded is 5 times the size, im using .8 wire do think this is too thick?

will try the different gun movement method

well thats where the hole was, so how big a match r u meant to weld a whole new inner wing just to cover up a hole the size of 50p?

0.8mm wire should be fine, I only mentioned it as obviously your wire speed will need to be a little lower than mine.

Pub gas is **** too btw!

Dito about the pub gas! and the area surrounding the patch needs to much cleaner than it is (as somebody has already said)
The wire speed looks to be far too high therefore you cannot weld in the same spot for long resulting in poor penetration.

Where are you located? maybe there is somebody on here who may be able to give you a hand?

as said already, clean your metals up more, make sure the earth is solid. also are you pushing or pulling? try changing the angle your doing it and make sure theres no draught in your work area.
