mk5 red/pink astra question?

hi there, my dad is for changing his mk4 astra for a mk5, this current astra is saposed to be red but as alot of ppl know they fade if not maintained ie ploished. he likes red astras but is being put off buying one because of the constant polishing required, a car dealer has told him the red paint on the mk5 astra doesnt fade, can any one confirn or denay this? all comments welcome

Every colour will fade if you dont look after it.

yes that i know but to the extent of a red car going white

That's cause its not being looked after and probably washed with Fairly.

all i`m asking is it the same paint used now or is it a better quality as in will it need polished every other week! and no its never washed with fairy, autoglym shampoo and chammied after

Paint will be a better quality yes as its newer.

If its looked after it wont fade.

If it was laquered it wouldn't fade anywhere near as fast or as badly. They fade so bad because they are painted with cheap ass single stage direct gloss

Mk5 astras are still single stage paint as far as I know.

i can also confirm this as we had a mk5 astra in for a buff the other week, was just starting to fade but was caught before it went pink, or even white.

Early Corsa VXRs fade quite badly so i've been reading, later ones are a shade darker and are lacquered.

i was at a bodyshop having a panel on my flame red zaffy painted and guy who owns the shop was saying that he had a 55 plate astra in flame red in at same time that was starting to fade already !! geezer did admit that he had never polished it tho'

10 plate astra by me and roof is faded. not really bad but its fading after 7 months new.

That's what happens when you wash a car with fairy.

have polished up a few mk4 red astras used 3m greentop works well then yellowtop. they always turn pink in no time!
