Its a scaled model i should have said, sorry, but that colour and the wheels look real good on that.

if you take the front bumper off you can fire waxoil or dinitrol down the chassis leg with a long extension from the front.it should run out the drain holes further back under the car.

So I have plenty left to do my own clean up. pics will be taken tommorrow as its been raining and still is.

Just found this pic of a replica model of GTE, on sale on ebay, wish i could restore mine to this standard:

not the best job in the world but as you say it now has a MOT ,i think you will find most garages don't do welding so your 100 % happy... at least you cut the rot out and treated it as some garages just plate over the rot........
now remove your battery ,washer bottle, wings and boot carpet if you have one and see if theres any rust.
i think i would hammerite smooth paint the floor wells inside and should be fine as long as you keep your eye on the water getting into the car.
    nice kittens by the way

Re: Advice required on welding holes in my Manta floor panel

Thanks gary, My battery tray is Ok apart from a minor surface rust, that i can scrape off and rust proof with hammerite or some other smooth paint. I know there is a hole behind the washer bottle that you can see through into the car just behind the dash, and close to the brake servo but not effecting the servo bracket and strengthening piece, so this I will tackle myself, and as for rust behind the front wings or arches, yes there is again surface rust that if not treated now will develop into major rust and the car would be useless.

MY boot is relatively rust free, just a bit at the rear panel seam, the floor is OK, the spare wheel pocket that sticks out towards the road from underneath has some minor rust broken through, that i could patch up from inside and fill from the outside and spray.

Any idea mate where i can get the driver's side door rubberers? the seal that runs all the way from the roof channel to the door sides and then the bottom is screwed on with a trim, mine is in a bit of state.

Obviously the roof is the next thing i need to sort out as there is now a big hole through which rain can enter,I will need to remove the roof lining to patch up from the bottom after treating with rust killer.

Re: Advice required on welding holes in my Manta floor panel

Its been a miserable old day, been drizzling all day, and in a way better because I haven't yet put all the carpets back in as I wanted to touch up the wleds and tidy them up before sealing them properly, so went into the car and saw a few puddles of water collecting in both front foot wellls, as well as the driver's side rear, after i got the MOT done, i removed the seats again to continue to sort out the rest of the car, but for the time being the project is on a hold due to getting busy at work. Once the job pressure is gone I will be back on the case, but it does mean it will be winter months!

Thanks for the links and will check those up. (one of the reasons why i am getting a puddle when it rains heavy, due to water getting in through the door seals when it rains hard sideways) and the other places where the water is getting in is from the rear quarter driver's side window, and both front splash panels, the areas hust where the brake pedals and servo are fitted, so there must be some way from where the water is getting inon both sides, on the pasenger side it is around the battery tray from the water is running in.

I am gutted but it will be tackled to a better standard so it will be all ripped out and redone.

Re: Advice required on welding holes in my Manta floor panel

some of the welds are quite porous, hence as you said he either didn't use enough or not at all, i supplied him with my new Mig welder plust the gas, i weighed the gas cylinder before supplying it to him and up on his return weighed again and he seemed to have used only 66gms of gas from a net weight of 390 gms of gas in the container.

double work for me now, but I had no choice other than to send the car somewhere off road ao as to get it welded to the extent that it secures an MOT and so I can tax the car, sadly i don't have a choice for an off street parking or a garage where I can work from, I enquired for some garges around most are for parking only you can hire for around 50 quid a month, no electricity and so are useless for doing any repair work, plus the hirer won't allow you do any work on cars.

Why? You're going to shove a carpet over it. So long as it passes an MOT and your passengers feet don't flintstone through the floor what does it matter?

It's not the best job in the world, but it's not going to fall off.

I guess you are right, I am probably being too paranoid about quality of weld, if it does the job then so be it. I will still need to tidy up a bit in some places where he has done a pretty bad job.
