2k spray painting, how much plasticiser?

    Hi guys,

Looking for some advice on paint/thinners/plasticiser mixing ratio for a friend.

Basically its automotive paint getting used to spray a microlight aircraft, I think its made from fibreglass.

Here's the details i've managed to get-

    Automotive paint,
    2k Acryl 740 thinner,
    2k Autolack 803 plastiser,
    2k 722 Acryl hardener

Had some paint related bookmarks that say mix paint 2:1 to thinners but cant find anything on how much plasticiser to use... Googling the plasticiser brings up a german site with no mixing info. Suppose it'll be the same thing as spraying plastic bumpers?

Any help would be great cheers!

Most plasticiser you just spray on. Its 1k and you use it direct for the can (PPG and Maxmayer)
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.

Cheers Benn, I imagined plasticiser was mixed in with the paint to give flex, (i know nothing about car paints though lmao)

Is this how fibreglass cars etc are done, just a plastic/flexible primer and paint straight over the top?

If this is the aircraft i'm thinking of it'll already have been painted (years ago) and just be having a fresh respray. So maybe it should just be keyed and then have fresh paint over the old stuff?

The whole things pretty flexible though, You can lift these planes up easily.

    Same as this-

Just had a thought, i' m sure parts of the wing on this are made of fabric so the paint has to flex or it'll crack

You need to find out what kind of fabric it is. Under no circumstances do you spray 2k on fabric it will damage in. Can you tell me the type of microlite it is, I have a few friends that work in this field of painting
If it is irish linen, then you need to use cellulose on it as a top coat but first you'll have to use what they call tautening dope to seal it before applying top coat. Again if irish linen has been used and the paint surface has cracked on the fabric area's, then that'll need washing off before re-coating.
Any metal substraites 2k can be used on

    Thanks st396,

It's a CFM Shadow microlight. I've found out its just a few new parts that are being fitted that need painting to match so probably just be a few fiber glass parts. Will give the guy a shout though. From what i remember its the flaps/elevators that are fabric (think thats what there called).
