Re: Cracked pillars and patches of fading on my Corsa B
Cracked B pilars !!! this was a recall from vauxhall and there is a mod for this !! its a metal plate that come as a pair for n/s and o/s they get glued in place (yes glued in) first off they get welded up then the mod panels get glued in place then the outer part gets filled then sprayed !!!!!![]()
All corsas that didnt have a sunroof crack there
my old corsa b ,sri cracked there ,so i welded it up ,& painted it up so that it was unoticeable, but my n reg corsa sport & my t reg corsa sport that i have now havent got cracked pillars :]
Th N reg Corsa i have just got has a cracked passenger B pillar but not the drivers side for some reason
i've never seen this, and i've owned around 15 corsa b's various ages some with and some without sunshine roof's
My L reg gsi cracked and that has sunroof, my L reg diesel cracked and that didn't have a sunroof, and my R reg corsa never and that did have a sunroof! To name but a few! It's a bit hit and miss but it's my understanding Vauxhall did do a re call on this and have heard about a plate being bonded in, and the later shells had them from the factory iirc

Apparantly lowered cars are more at risk from this too but not sure on its truth (mines lowered 60mm as it goes)
nah i've had standard ones for bombing to work and back and they've been cracked too

its a strange one i've had it on standard sris and sports with and without sunroofs i was always under the impression it was to do with being lowered but as dewis said it happens to standard cars too. i now run 300hp c20let in a 2000 shell and touch wood it hasent cracked
Captain we just can,t do it....just don,t have the powerrrrrr!:)

My L reg has![]()
later cars have a stuck on modified plate fitted inside the b pillari now run 300hp c20let in a 2000 shell and touch wood it hasent cracked
they all go vauxhall solved the problem on post 97 cars.
There was 'apparently' a fix yes but ive had to repair a 2000 1.2 Sxi with sunroof which suggests to me its more nonsense or fitted at random, best and only way to fix and stop oit coming back is same as i always do it, prep the whole are back to bare metal removing the obligatory rust, air saw the crack so it has an equal straight edge, use a crew driver and hammer and dent the now fine cut inwards, now fill the dented in groove slowly with weld bit by bit so as not to warp the quarter, refinnish it back so its all flash with surround metal and MAYBE if needed youll need a slight skim of filler, either way though youll need the whole quarter and door repaiting so as its not ever noticed again :-/
