    MOT regulations for welding floor

    Hey guys I need to plate some areas on my nova project both sides need doing. What I need to know is do I need to put in the strengthening parts in new section like I cut out (pic below) and also will it be seam welded and will 1mm thick sheet steel be ok ?

    That's fine.

    Mot man would just look at it to make sure its no holed.

    I'd use 1.6mm plate for the floor.

    If there was a crossmember under there it needs to be replaced too.

    Hi Mark no theres no crossmember where I have cut out rot you can just see where it is in the pic to the right.

    The bit in the bottom pic on the right is the cross member, the other shaped did i don't think does anything for strength.

    i agree either 1.6mm or 2mm plate,

    fenny tbh the vin on the floor is almost never checked at mot but it is by th traffic boys if your carpet has the cutout if not they dont check it

    1.6mm plate with a continuous weld. Obviously it would pay to weld the cross member like part up from below as well.
