    is this a good welder?

    hey all, im going to be doing some work on my astra over the next few months an in need of a welder. i dnt realy no much about them to be honest and was looking on ebay for somethink with gas then came across this

    SIP 25027 WELDMATE T90P GAS MIG WELDER 90 AMP arc wire on eBay (end time 05-Mar-10 17:25:32 GMT)

    just wanted to no would this be any good for the moneys worth? i only realy need it to weld up the rear quarter panels..

    any help appreciated

    i have only used a couple of different welders but you definately "get what you pay for"

    Hi personally i'd avoid a sip mig mate the wire feeds are inferior and will probably end up giving you trouble down the line.
    Also for £180 you can buy a much better welder if you look around and dont mind second hand. clarke, sealey etc are a couple good brands to look out for.

    and idealy you should buy a welder with at least 130amps but aim for 150amps if you can find something in your price range. But if youre only ever going to be welding car panels i suppose 90amps will do...

    i also found tig welding harder to do and more time consuming but still a good skill to have.150 amp defo

    Got a Clarke 150 amp and it's really good value for money.

    ive got a sip with a teflon tube and moded the feed rollers abit and i really rate it but i bought it really cheap second hand and couldnt pass up for the price ,for a buy and use welder new id look elsewere as others have said

    well its probably abit much for body panels, but at least you know it'll be future proof should you want to do something abit more heavy.
