    spraying problem

just sprayed my bumpers then later i put the lacquer on,it looks good but still has a very dull look to it,it almost still looks like a mat finish!i have been told to wet and dry back(1200) or (2000) which i started to do but it was really starting to scratch the paint work and i was finding it really hard to polish up...even then it still looks dull....how do i get it so it looks like the glass finish of the rest of the car??many thanks

How many layers of lacquer have you got on there?

You can't just rub it back and leave it, you need to get the cutting compound on it and after cutting back with then you need to bring the shine up with lots of polishing.

Don't flat between the layers, can do with solid, but not metallic.

Ok, your locals motorfactors should be able to get it. It's not expensive. I buy it by the tube and it's around £10 a tube.

You use this in quite an abrasive action after flatting back. But make sure you have an even dullness all over from flatting back. No low spots (indicated by small shiney bits). Don't go over the same spot too many times. Even action. Buff off with cloth. It'll still not be shiney, but it should be very smooth.

After this, bring up to shine with polish. AG Super Resin polish is adequate. Again, you need to be quite abrasive with this. You also may need to polish and buff a good few times to get a good shine. You'll see the more you do it.

No, you NEVER rub back the base coat metallic. You'll shag up the metallic paritcles changing the shade.
