    Prepairing used bumpers for painting.

I want to rub down the GSi kit that I have been piecing together.

I want to make a really good job and save some cash when it goes to the bodyshop.

What is the correct and best way, materials, etc to rub down original GM bumpers and skirts in preperation for painting?

    1. Clean the bumpers thoroughly
    2. Sand down with some wet and dry sandpaper. Make sure it's fine and keep it wet and rinse off all debris so you won't scratch the plastic deeply.
    3. Keep sanding till the surface is completley matt (no shiny plastic left)
    4. clean it well again (don't use detergents since it leaves a waxy residue on the surface) also, avoid touching the surface with your hands, since oil and sweat can affect primer adhesion.

That's basically it. It's worth spending time on prep work, since the top coat is only as good as the preping.
