they have only pulled troops from basra city.

there is no definitive date for return and there is still a lot more work supporting the new iraqi forces now as well.

Yes indeedy im in the Uk right now, been a home on my R&R a few days already. Im afraid the pull out of Basra Palace, the last place we have in the city is only the start of it. Even though we now have everyone based in the airport, otherwise know as the COB (where i live) there won't be a pull out for quite some time yet. We now have to see if the Iraqi police/Army can govern the city themselves, which given how corrupt and dodgy they both are (mainly the police) i can't see happening for a while. My tour will end Dec 1st, regardless of this though. I think it will be at least another year before we see a sizeable pullout. Handing over the airport back to them will take a very long time on its own. But thanks for the thoughts anyway

I fly back to Iraq on the 13th of september, so not a great deal of time unfortunately, but the sooner i get back out there the sooner the tour will be over.
