Well, changed the downpipe gasket thie morning. Sounds a lot better now, just got to figure out how the heat shield goes back on. I did consider leaving it off but apparently the pre cat makes things very hot so it's better to have it back on.

So nothing for a month then?

How is everyone? Any cars sold or nearly sold?

The Vectra is doing me proud currently, genuine GM downpipe gasket did the job.

Big cleaning session on the weekend for it....

Yeah I've met Daz once as he's a knowldegeable guy with the Z22's, it'll be well looked after by him.

What's the missus getting then if the Corsa is off?

Engine is standard except for balancing, lightening & ARP's. Puts out 150bhp ATW. 15 sec 1/4 mile (takes me 2 secs to notice the lights have changed lol!) Goes OK but to be really impressive needs a bit more to have the edge on the escorts running similar setup.
Looking for cams, followers, valves springs, seats, verniers, pocketed pistons (omegas, wossners or somehing) Anything at the right price really. Most of the shell is fibreglass, so weighs very little.

That looks class, what are you running there for fuelling cant quite make it out. I bet your power to weight is impressive then. There are a load of places in the TV magazine which sell cams, followers, verniers, pistons etc mate. 150 ATW is a good figure considering they are 155 bhp iirc from factory

Ow thats a nice little mini. Minis with big power engines must be scary to drive.

Fuelling = GSXR SRAD throttle bodies, samcoed on to the standard inlet manifold, blue injecdtors, DTA engine management. TV = Total Vauxhall?
Good fun to drive, when it gets out of shape - keep your foot in lol. Difficult to drive fast.

    Re: General Chat (Wales Region)

well what a mad few days ive had! started last thursday when the father in laws navigator phoned to say he wouldnt be able to sit in the rally car at todays pembrey rally so i was drafted into service from my usual place of on the end of the spanners and had to don new overalls and helmet and with my brand new MSA licence in hand, sat in the silly seat for size. then sat morning came, should have been an easy day of last min tickering with the rear wheel drive MK1 astra which ended with a 9 hour strip down and build up of a new engine after while idling on the ramp a strange rattle started (which we discovered was a rod bearing) got the car finished and on the trailer at 6 pm last nite. went to the garage this morning to find the gearbox oil no longer in the box but on the garage floor, so we then decided (at 5am!!) and take the mk3 astra insted which meant emptying the van of all the mk1 13 inch wheels and stuff and filling with the 15s, 16, and 17,s of the mk3. made it to a very wet and water logged pembrey, passed scrutineering and signed on. all going well so far, we was car 12 going out onto stage 1. and it was soaking. nearly through the first lap, all was well, car was spot on, no dramas, i hadnt been sick or fooked up the notes too bad and as we entered a fast straight, there was no mention of the boating lake that the road went through! the car died in the middle and wouldnt restart. as the water looked to be up over the sills, neither of us wanted to get out then two marshalls started pushing us out. when out the car fired back up but it was clear something was right, we finished the stage hoping it was damp leads or plugs causing the miss fire but when we made service and pulled out the dipstick, the mayo on it was clear that the carbs (alought wearing filters) had taken a huge gulp of water. we dropped the oil (or rather milky coffee!) stuck on a new filter, new oil and new plugs to see if it would go again, but on starting ( and it does run!) it has a death rattle in the bottom end, which isnt suprising. so rally over.

wow, been a while since there was some chat posted in wales i see! today has been a day of learning, learnt that when doing XXXmph on a duel carrage way the 4 pot brake upgrade on the scooby is well worth it when you suddenly realise that there is a police volvo sat just around the corner and you need to half your speed! and that trying to understand and be understood by staff in KFC is a task and a half when all you want is a "sweet chile box meal" with a pepsi! but probably the biggest leason today is taht Andy_L cannot ride a manual motorbike and the only way he can move it, is if its moved out into the middle of the road and left pointing straight! if its left in any other place, then he is likely to go at rapid speed towards the nearest wall, flattening bins on-route! lmao lmao lmao

awesome day again guys, good to meet up again Don, Andy, shame none of the other lads were about. hopefully next time we meet, i wont be the only "Jap crap" owner there, now the light has been seen!
