Raising the standard and raising the suspension! Vauxhall is to launch a 'jacked-up' allroad version of the new Vectra – and it will be here next year. It's leading the charge as part of an exciting range of innovative new models from the company, and will follow the design theme of the stylish Zafira Snowtrekker.
The all-wheel-drive newcomer will be Luton's answer to Audi's A6 Allroad and the Subaru Legacy Outback. When it arrives next year, it will be the fifth member of the Vectra family, alongside the saloon, hatchback, estate and Signum sportswagon.
Vauxhall is painfully aware that the only SUV it currently offers is the Frontera, and despite its new facelift it's very dated. The fact that fashion is moving towards 'crossover' recreational vehicles lends strength to the all-wheel-drive Vectra. Potential power units include the gutsy 211bhp 3.2-litre V6, together with the 3.0-litre Isuzu common-rail diesel also used by Saab's 9-5.
