Thumbs up 888 Chooses MOMO as Technical Partner

VX Racing has emphatically underlined its position as the most successful Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship team of recent times, with the announcement of a further big-brand affiliation. World-famous race equipment brand and tuning label, MOMO, has confirmed its technical partnership with the multiple championship-winning team, run by Triple Eight Race Engineering, in their bid for this year’s BTCC title.

MOMO will supply the team with competition equipment, ranging from the Italian company’s legendary race steering wheels to custom-designed driver racewear, pit crew wear and team clothing. “We are delighted to have formed this partnership with MOMO,” said Triple Eight’s Commercial and Marketing Director, Franck Marie. “MOMO’s style, reputation and product range made them the obvious choice to meet our team’s race apparel requirements for 2007 as well as supplying specific race car parts for our new Vectra.

“MOMO is without doubt one of the most recognised and aspirational brands in its field, and this technical partnership will allow us to benefit from their latest innovations, and work closely to develop future solutions tailored to our needs."

Maurizio Iperti, Racing Manager of MOMO Italy added: “We are extremely pleased to confirm this technical co-operation with VX Racing and Triple Eight. We will greatly enjoy sharing our international experience in the design and development of the highest quality racing equipment, and working closely with such a successful team. We have no doubt that Tom Chilton and Fabrizio Giovanardi will be tremendous ambassadors to the MOMO brand and we wish them all success this year.”

Triple Eight has won 13 of the 18 available drivers’, manufacturers’ and Teams' titles in the past six years. The outfit, formed in 1996, is based in the UK’s “Motorsport Valley” near Silverstone and was primarily formed to design, build and race the Super Touring Vectra on behalf of Vauxhall Motors.

In 2001, the company undertook a development programme for the Astra Coupe, which resulted in unprecedented success in the BTCC.

For the 2007 season, the Oxfordshire-based engineering company is developing a brace of Vauxhall Vectra S2000 cars on behalf of VX Racing to reclaim the coveted manufacturer title, which they have won five times over the past six racing seasons.

Milan-based MOMO is undeniably one of the world’s most aspirational and style-driven motorsport and enthusiast tuning brands. Its illustrious journey - starting with literally steering John Surtees to his F1 World Championship with Ferrari in 1964 - has seen the Italian MOMO brand involved in all echelons of motorsport on a world stage, including a long-term relationship with the Ferrari marque.

Today, MOMO’s technical ability and undisputed ‘Italianate’ design flair is expressed through a comprehensive range of motorsport equipment and racewear for competitors and teams worldwide, matched with a comprehensive line-up of tuning and styling accessories - including alloy road wheels and steering wheels - for the discriminating enthusiast.
