Arrow VXR Performance Centre now open to the public

Want to squeeze extra performance out of your car, but don’t want to buy bolt-on parts from a high street accessory shop? Now, thanks to Vauxhall’s new VXR Performance Centre, owners of mainstream Vauxhall models can benefit from a range of tuning and styling modifications that are fully-supported by the Luton-based company.

Based at the headquarters of VXRacing at 888 Race Engineering, which prepares and campaigns Vauxhall’s Astra Sport Hatch Touring Cars, the VXR Performance Centre offers a range of mods, from styling, suspension and brake upgrades, to remaps of the fuel system to deliver increased performance.

The centre, located in rural Oxfordshire, offers a range of VXRacing-backed modifications for all cars in the Vauxhall range, and can even increase the power outputs of already scorching models such as the Astra, Vectra and Zafira VXRs.

And it’s not only the performance packages on offer that will bring Vauxhall owners to the VXR Performance Centre, as the facility will give them the chance to see the birthplace of the VXRacing team, with the option of providing a factory tour, a chance to purchase memorabilia and an insight as to what goes on behind the scenes of a championship winning BTCC Team.

VXR Brand Manager Stuart Harris said: "The opening of the VXR Performance Centre further strengthens the links between Vauxhall’s VXR road cars and VXRacing. We’re proud to be associated with Triple Eight in a venture that not only celebrates our successes on the race track, but also brings the results of our motorsport expertise to enthusiastic Vauxhall owners."

Owners wishing to book their car in for a VXR makeover should contact the Performance Centre direct on 0870 242 4334 or email vxr@tripleeight.co.uk. More information on the facility can be found at www.vxrperformance.co.uk

Take your car to VXR !!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but I've spent a very pleasant couple of hours today sitting in a comfortable Recaro seat, reading my book and drinking coffee, whilst Dave Pearce of 888 re-programmed the ECU software of my new Astra 1.9CDTi (cut out the sniggers - I've been converted !)

After a test drive, where Dave explained the advantages and slightly different driving technique, I was unleashed back onto the M40 / A34 / M27 back to Portsmouth.

And you were right Dave - I did have a massive grin all the way. Acceleration from 2000 rpm in Sport mode is fantastic ( even in 6th Gear) and this is one upgrade I would definitely recommend to anyone.

If you have one of the modern vauxhalls (less than 10 years) you should definitely visit their website to see what is on offer, or talk to Dave on 0870 242 4334 (no time wasters please!!) and tell him you're from Migweb. You won't get a discount, but take your car to someone who really knows his stuff (as opposed to some of our more local tuners !!)

so do we get custom maps to the car or eds style remaps? - i have the vxr injectors which i need a new map - so vxr being closer would be a logical choice -- is this a service they offer or is it still a courtenay job for a tailor made map to the car

Looks as if they only cater for reprogramming of 'standard' vehicles so would think EDS style remaps. Might be worth giving them a ring tho.

Oh yes we can do all the Mad injector stuff Vxr turbos etc,

Only stipulation we have is that the car is well cared for and isnt a high miles wreck .
We prefer untouched cars so we can start fresh , and we have set a target Mileage of 40k
if you are over the 40k we have to think about it a bit more , sorry but it keeps everything safe and sensible.

Glad you are happy with the Astra Roger.

Update - Spent today on a very wet Castle Combe Track Day - and believe me it was VERY wet.
Embarrassed and annoyed a lot of 'fast' cars (especially when sport mode switched on) and although the car was a little twitchy it was very controllable.

Today really proved just how good this conversion is.

Hmmm, I know I said I wouldn't, but I may just have to see about that coilover suspension kit !!
