Thumbs up Vauxhall Astra Twintop Prices Raise The Roof

Convertibles with folding metal roofs are more expensive than those with fabric roofs, right? Not if it’s the new Astra TwinTop. Vauxhall has announced prices for this stunning new model, and it undercuts all its class rivals to start at just £16,995.

With three models and four engines to choose from, Astra TwinTop offers an exceptional blend of style, driving dynamics and value.

Even at £16,995 the entry level Astra TwinTop 1.6 16v has an equipment tally to make its competitors look less than cool. A power roof, four airbags, alarm, CD player, all-round electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and air conditioning all come as standard. This model also features the innovative 16-inch structure wheel, so you don’t need to worry about bumping into the kerb as you admire your reflection in the shop window.

Next up is the Sport model, priced from £17,795, with 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, trip computer, steering wheel mounted audio controls and remote control roof operation. As well as the highly efficient 1.6 16v Twinport, Sport models can be specified with the all-new 1.8 16v VVT 140PS engine and the 1.9CDTi 150PS diesel.

Topping off the range is the Design, available from £18,995. Offering the choice of 1.8 16v VVT, 1.9CDTi 150PS turbodiesel and scorching 2.0 Turbo 200PS engines, this model is sure to cut a dash with 17-inch 10-spoke alloys, sport switch and a sports steering wheel. Rain-sensitive windscreen wipers, anti-dazzle rear view mirror, automatic lighting control and a windbreak are also all standard.

Design models feature automatic pop-up roll-over protection bars in place of the static bars on Twin Top and Sport models, making the lines even sleeker without compromising safety.

Customers can specify a range of options including unique ‘saddle’ leather trim for £750 and Vauxhall’s class leading Adaptive Forward Lighting system which is also £750.

Dealers are now taking orders for Astra TwinTop, with first deliveries expected in late spring – just in time to top up that tan and dust away those winter blues!

EXTRA KIT FOR EARLY TWINTOP BUYERS!

As if the looks of the new Astra TwinTop weren’t enough incentive to reach for your cheque book, Vauxhall is offering an extra bonus for buyers who order their cars early.

The latest addition to Vauxhall’s model range, complete with its innovative three-piece folding roof mechanism, is now available to order and there’s a special extra launch incentive for buyers who choose their car before 31 March.

Even though the TwinTop is already exceptional value with prices starting at just £16,995, Vauxhall is offering free ‘Launch Packs’ worth £500 to buyers joining the waiting list early.

The TwinTop 1.6 pack includes an upgrade from fixed to automatic pop-up roll over bars. These offer all the protection of the standard fixed hoops but also maintain a smooth, uninterrupted profile with the roof down. Early buyers will also be offered the opportunity to opt for smart 16-inch alloys for no extra cost.

Sport models gain the pop-up roof bars, along with 17-inch twin spoke alloys rather than the standard 16-inchers. Buyers who splash out on the range-topping Design will get an upgrade to 18-inch alloy wheels and a CD auto changer.

But these Launch Packs are only available on orders placed before the end of March, from approved Vauxhall Retailers. The first cars will arrive in dealerships in May.

Its a wheel trim that look like an alloy, which is cheaper to replace.

its a steel wheel moulded into the shape of an alloy, with a trim which actually bolts on to the steel, making it appear like an alloy. yet if you was to damage one it will only cost £19 to replace, rather than £100+.

sounds gash, but until you see one, its quite clever and you couldnt really tell it wasnt an alloy.

Or you could just not kerb your wheels

I like the look of that. Dont suppose they will be bringing out a VXR version seen as though they are putting the 200PS engine in.

200PS is standard for any small hatch now, I expect there's something better coming.

Maybe the 255PS V6T?

The 200BHP Turbo engine is not going to be especially quick in this car considering how heavy it will be. The same engine in the 5 door Astra only does 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. They really ought to put the 240BHP engine in to compensate for the extra weight. Doubt they will though.
