Hold on to your seat, it seems that Vauxhalls are getting faster again. Over the last year we have seen many hot versions of the Vauxhall range being introduced, including the Astra Coupe, VX220 and Zafira turbo. Well it doesn't stop there, Vauxhall have more to come.

The VX220 turbo will now go ahead. This car has been on the cards for quite a while now but Vauxhall was struggling to keep the engine weight down and get enough cooling to it. It should hit the streets in July with an all-new 2.0 Turbo engine which will propel the car to 60 in 4.4 seconds. The unit is based of the current 2.2 all alloy block and will be used in the new six-speed Vectra SRi due early summer. The Vectra GSi will not get this engine - but instead will have the 3.2 MV6 engine.

Saab will be helping Vauxhall get more power from the diesel range of engines, including a new 3.0 TiD engines which will power Vectras and Omegas from 2003.

It seems that the GTE/GSi trend of the late '80s is creeping back onto the scene - and about time too!
