why is the wanted section private????

if you read the rules, it does explain

Wanted ads can be posted by anyone, but until you have been a users for at least 60 days and have a minimum of 100 posts, you will not be able to see other people's wanted ads. This is to protect the advertiser from new users pretending to have the items requested.

this is due to problems in the past with new users signing up, answering a load of wanted ad's stating they have parts, taking payments and ripping people off.

you should still be able to post an wanted ad in there and view replies to your ad, but not view other peoples ad's until you have the required post count.
