    Re: New Forum Software - Report Problems Here

    ok thought id post my bits here rather than start a new topic;

    2 problems im having with migweb lately:

    1) when i view the site on a mobile device, primarily the nokia n95, its as though there is a mobile stylesheet that hasnt been finished. the password field does not retain the password that has been inserted when i try and log in and so regardless of what you type it reverts back to 'password', the predefined field value, so i cant log in. also, the homepage to migweb is totally buggered and almost impossible to read/navigate due to broken layout.

    2) for some reason, almost all links that i spot on google for migweb, other than those posted in the last few months, redirect me to some error page which seems to be a URL cloak resulting in some advertising or another. for example, tonight i tried searching for "migweb volvo" on google to find the project/resto thread started by that guy with the yellow 850. anyway, the result appears as it should, and when i click the link it shows the migweb URL in the address bar and then suddenly redirects me to URL2SHORT.INFO - free url redirection and masking service, which is the same page all the other archived links go to. id hate to think how much traffic youre losing because of this, not to mention the fact that people cant find what theyre looking for!

    wondered if either were quick fixes or anything you were aware of? thought them worth mentioning.

    keep up the good work!

    Hi - thanks for your feedback. I'll look into the login issue for the mobile template. I know it doesn't work on the forum homepage though (can't do much about this - sorry). Consider using Tapatalk if your phone supports it (google it). Also, maybe try logging using the not mobile template and then change.

    The second issue (URL2Short) - well, many thanks for pointing this out. This is a serious issue related to a security risk in some of the software that we use. I've looked it up and know how to fix this, and will do so tonight. It is basically an exploit in some software which someone has used to redirect trafic away from MIG.

    A fix was released a few weeks ago, for info, see here:

    Who actually got hold of these Betas? 5 years olds?

    can't believe this software has made it to public domain in this form.

    It isn't beta software. I guess me and the other 10000s of webadmins are stupid for using release software eh? Anyhow, we are patched up and extra secure. This issue in no way put users or their info at risk, it is merely a redirect exploit to steel traffic.
