Text talk is generally frowned upon on this forum - all are welcome but when some of the old school members spot txt tlk we turn off .......

Indeed, personally Im far more likely to reply to a post if the person making it bothers to take the time to type it properly.

if u choose 2 type it out lyk dis = less replies as I find it annoying

Im sure the same goes for many other members.

Re: Y is it so hard to get feedback or info? maybe because i'm an outsider....

Absolutely, but there is a bias towards helping more established people or users with the more typical cars/engines.

I see a lot of new users arrive asking info about mk5 Astras etc & IMO this site has more tech on the general Vauxhalls that have proven to be the most tuneable, ie Cavs, Astra 1,2,3's & Novas & Corsas etc. It might not be that you get ignored, but simply people dont want to guess or offer incorrect advice, something that can be detrimental to you & your car. Another factor could be that you are asking regular questions that people would rather you used the search function thatn explain eg; XE overfuelling for the millionth time.....

You may also find that the 'meat' of the question has already been answered, so use the search button and see what you find.

If your still unsure then post a question, as your more likely to get a response if you've searched, and have a general understanding.

Re: Y is it so hard to get feedback or info? maybe because i'm an outsider....

I agree with Nobbie - at least once a week a newbie comes on and asks if they can fit a digidash to their xyz vauxhall when a quick search would find many results with the answer to their question. I've already typed the same thing out in reply to these questions many many times over the 7 years I've been on here and generally ignore these questions now.

Not for any reason other than the wealth of knowledge tbh.

When I first registered on here, smallblocks were pretty much unheard of. If you didnt have an XE or LET, no one knew fook all about it.

It's a bit of a sad fact on here that untill you've been around for a bit people are more likely to not bother replying to your threads/questions. Once you've been about a bit and proved you're not full of shat you get one better.............

Unless of course you come on and post up a fully detailed and pictured post about your 4x4 550bhp 600ft/lb nova/corsa/astra in which case they all want to be associated with you in an instance

Re: Y is it so hard to get feedback or info? maybe because i'm an outsider....

i think jimbo hit the nail square on along with quite a few others, untill youve proved your not a total lurch then people generally wont bother helping, i spent the best part of 3 months getting "burned" for silly little things but you soon grasp the general way of thinking and using the site,

as for meeting people the show season is nearly up now so get paid up and get along to some regional meets, i never do but i usually make an effort to meet a few people when at shows, for instance last year i met the infamous chavtastic aswell as chip AL and a few others from VauxSport this year ive managed to meet the legend that is benn aswell as rich j williams and countless others from MIG.

when it comes down to it it takes time and effort to break into any car scene nowadays unless youve just built a 600bhp LET

Re: Y is it so hard to get feedback or info? maybe because i'm an outsider....

A lot of newbies come on and chat a load of **** and then when they want help most are unwilling to do so. Some post unreadable questions. Some just post 'help' me cars broke down what's wrong!!

Sometimes people who know the answers aren't around for various reasons so immediate answers aren't forthcoming. which hacks the newbie off. Patience is a virture and the Search button is most useful

I only ask stuff on here because my RL friends (danny, Sut, kel) don’t know anything about cars
As for getting ignored well if any one uses text speak (as mentioned above) or anything to do with maxpower like body kits or euro I just switch into my evil I what to kill you for been a chav mode, if its not making something better faster stronger its just not right.
