When you try to turn it on you get :

It doesn't turn on , well does for 2 secs before going red again .
Is this a repairable fault ?

I had this mate I just contacted playstation and they did a straight swap on front door step
have you tried on youtube. all the funky reseting methods and the like ?

Did this on mine and it worked for a few weeks then went again
my mate had the same he asked me for my heat gun not sure what he done but it worked so give it a bash after all it cant get worse

Is your warranty seal intact? You can send them back to Sony for a fee if it is, but worth bearing in mind that Sainsbury's have slimlines for £195 at the moment...

sorry to bump a old thread but did anyone sort there's out? mines done it now and am thinking about fixing it with a big hammer lol
you can fix it with a heat gun but it wont last. the best thing is to stick it in the oven at 80-90 deg for 10 min then let cool.
Racing is life, anything before or after is just waiting but its better to be late in this world than early in the next
there's a repair kit on ebay, they got so hot in a certain place and the solder liquidses and moves with vibrations, its a pretty easy fix i'm told, comes with all you need and instructions too.

Hope so. Not happy as mine doesn't get that much use...the occasional blueray, streamed stuff on BBC iplayer, Netflix & Lovefilm. Gaming it's usually GT5 (which is on the hard drive) and the odd game of COD
Use mine just for gaming realy , have got a player for films and laptop for going online ,
Must say , the PS3 was great for going online while the laptop was being fixed .
