nah mines a £60 black glass extortion brand bundled in with my 32 inch Sharpe Aquous which is up in the bedroom.

I'm currently boarding out my loft and setting up my XBOX stuff to get it out of the way, I've got the router from Virgin and it's a D-link jobbie, it's really good within about 20ft but if you go to another floor the connection drops off so I have it set as a repeater in the bedroom updtairs, it was suprisingly easy to do, the netgear I went out and spent the money on actually reaches into the loft from downstairs, albeit not at a strong signal but it's much more powerful than Virgins one.

Well I gave in to temptation and traded my 360 in for the new version. So far so good! My reasons for getting it in the end were it will match my TV and stand, plus it runs sooo much quieter than the old one! I already had a 250GB drive and I plug it directly into the router...so the other features didnt matter to me...

once they figure out how to transfer data from the hdd on my elite to the new 360 ill be getting one.

Ok so i got my new 360 and love it, i also got the data transfer cable but realised i didnt even bloody need it. I have no music or anything saved on my xbox just game saves.
As soon as i recovered my gamertag on the new console everything was there, even my game saves.

Well impressed and i can keep my elite for my bedroom now

The transfer cable is a waste of money, for the cost of one you can get an 8gb USB stick and use that to transfer the content, then when finished at least you have something you can use on a PC or for carrying your profiles round to a freinds house.

BTW you will have to keep re-recovering your profile becuase you recovered on the S, the same old profile on the elite wont sign into live unless you again re-recover it and thats why having a profile on a USB drive is handy

The other way to get round it is so use the PC application USB XTAF, move your profile from the S onto the USB then copy your profile from the stick to your PC using USB XTAF. then use the USB to Move back to the slim.

then go back to the PC, re-copy the profile back to USB then move it from USB to the Elite.

Well, you can if you like to get banned at the end of the year. or who knows with this new detection stuff they recently added.

I'm not doing mine as Ive got an old one for backups and I've bought most of the games I play regular anyway.

If you get an official xbox memory card, you can move your profile onto the memory card. That way you can just move the card upstairs and downstairs. Thats what i do

I think the dumping of memory card was a bad idea but with usb sticks being cheap it's not all that bad, only problem is you can use freebie 512mb sticks that companies hand out.

Yep, the whole idea was to scrap the MU's but now you can format up to 16gb USB memory stick to use as a MU. I dont see the reason why you would only want a 512mb MU but aparrently they will work if you use one of these PC to XBox360 Memory Unit USB Game Data Backup Adapter on eBay (end time 16-Aug-10 14:39:06 BST)

Oh, so it will allow you to copy save games + profiles to a specially formatted usb stick now ? that makes a lot more sense, i was pissed when i found out i needed an official one to change consoles lmao

Oh and as Gaz correctly said, anything under 1gb wont work and not all will configure like my HP 16gb Sandisk cruzer micro skin is the best bet, its an exact copy of the Sandisk one MS push out for a fraction of the price.
