I was bored one day so I did this!

As title, decided to customise my xbox so decided to spray it Vaux Arden blue!

Im not the best sprayer and this was with cans, I messed up in a few places but it didn't come out too bad except one of the panel halfs slightly melted wen I left it on a warm oven to harden the paint so the faceplate doesnt clip on properly

Ignore the peeling paint on the walls, it keeps coming off

I also drilled holes in the side, in the shape of an X and put a fan behind it







Switched the ROL lights also, Red for on and Green for error lmao

Picked this one up cheap from eBay and revived it by reflowing the solder in the oven lmao

you dont need to put it in the oven just leave paint to dry over night.

About the damp, I dont know why it keeps doing it, its been scraped off and repainted but it just peels off, Chimney is to the left of pic, Gas fire next to Disc stacker.

We have asked the letting agency to sort it but they keep starting jobs and leaving them this time they don't even bother

The holes you've drilled for the fan wont be nearly enough ventilation. The fan will also work harder to move as its very restrictive.

Yes I did think that, I dont have a hole cutter so had to do that, one day ill change it

It does chuck out alot of heat thou, I felt the sides and they are cooler than the air coming out which is a good sign its doing something, along with the white fan stand.

Well obviously, but why does it need increased airflow? Do Xboxs overheat?

Yes, badly. The GPU heatsink sits right under the DVD drive so it has a small crappy heatsink that can't get the heat out of the console, couple that with many on off cycles and a crappy air shroud that leaks air pressure, the board warps and breaks the solder joints from the GPU. You then have RROD.

The DVD drive is also part of the airflow guide for the GPU heatsink, its rubbish and lets air pass over the back end of the heatsink, Ive also added card ontop of the heatsink to force air to enter over the front and sealed up any holes in the airflow shroud.

If anyone needs one fixed, i'm you're man lmao
