Controlling access to a wireless router

My missus' daughter has been bought a laptop for christmas, against my advice that its not a good idea, but come Christmas day its coming whether I like it or not.

We have a Sky wireless router, the PS3 runs off it, my laptop runs off it, and when the PC wants to play ball, it sometimes has access to it.

Obviously her laptop will be connected wirelessly as well, but what I want to know, is there any piece of software out there I can install on my laptop, that can switch the signal to her laptop off or refuse her access?

I know what shes like, will be on it all time of the day and night, and there needs to be a cutoff point where I can say 'enoughs enough' internet is closed for the day to her laptop.

Any ideas? Would prefer free solutions.

You might be able to set times of access for the mac address of that laptop on your router. also setting up block lists on any sites you would not like her to go on although that might block you from going there too lmao

Can't get more free than that.

Yes! I have a Belkin router and you can throttle the amount she uses and the times in the day you can use it at, it's a simple as that!

Ok, how do I achieve that? I'm actually quite computer savvy, but, this is one thing i've never had to do before.

I haven't ever looked at a sky router but i think they're pretty much standard netgear. If so then in the settings panel, theres a section where you can choose which mac addresses do or dont have access. Of course this is manual and you'd have to go in every night and remove the address, but if all else fails, it would work. (hopefully there would be a list of addresses with tick boxes next to them, otherwise you'd have to type the address in every time. Best thing to do is log into the router and have a play, the options will either be there or they won't, depends on the router. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser address bar, if you've never changed the username/password it will be written on the bottom of the router, probably 'admin' / 'password'
