Im due an upgrade and was planning on paying a couple of hundred quid towards a N96, but ive been put off by reviews on them!
Alot of people say they're N95 8GB was better.
So, its either the Nokia N95 8GB which ill get for free, or take a chance and get the N96 and pay £200 towards it..
Id rather have the latest one out, which has double the memory etc, but id rather have the better phone out the 2..
Opinions on them??
I would not pay £200 towards any phone on any contract.
However after having 5 nokia N95 8Gb and all failing, I can say the N96 is far more reliable and the phone is better into the bargain too.

Im on a £30 monthly contract, id get the N95 8GB free, and im sure i have to pay £200 to get the N96.
The N95 seems to have better reviews, and theres mixed reviews on the N96.
I dont want to be £200 out of pocket and have a worse phone!

What went wrong with the N95s?
I have the n96 and its a bit temperamental at times with the odd freeze and slow loading but everything else is fine.
Can't you up your contract to say 40/45 quid and get the n96 free?

The 95 is meant to be a bit tempramental aswell when it comes to freezing etc?
Yeh, I had one, thought it was toss to be honest. Was great for ages then slow etc.
No got some 3 phone on pay as you go. Its great!
Ive got the N95 but the poverty spec model lmao A mate has recently upgraded to the N95 8gb and gets on with it fine. The N96 is a new phone so i'd go for the N95 then maybe upgrade once all the niggles have been iorned out from the N96. Just my opinion though.

my girlfriend has the N96, got it free on a £30 contract with 02...
no major dramas with it, bit slow to load sometimes, but within a month or two, nokia will have new firmware for it on the website, which generally irons out the usual "new nokia niggles"
N95 8gb is a fantastic phone, ive had mine 14 months with no issues at all, and last week i realised i can edit video on it!! Keep finding new features.. everything about it is spot on, camera is superb. im going for the 96 next if its free, if not ill keep the 95

Yeh i heard that new firmware normally comes out, infact ive heard they already have it but it hasnt been released yet..
So basically the N96 would be best if they brought out new firmware for it to sort any niggles and freezing issues?
The n96 is supposedly quicker than the n95 and doesn't freeze as often but haven't had a n95 to confirm.
I've had the n96 since october now and it's only frozen twice.
Edit: never knew you could get the n96 on o2? just thought it were Voda and Orange?

Ive also read that alot of the problems are because of firmware that Vodafone put on them, alot of people suggest removing it and putting on firmware thats like an unlocked phone!? Pressume that removes all the stuff Vodafone etc are payed to put on it by other buisnesses etc..
first thing i did with my 95 was remove all the **** they put on it, stuff your never gonna use, and if you keep programs closed they dont freeze, its only if you have everything open you get problems. n96 is the kiddie to have imo... if you try real hard, im sure you will get it for free.. the sales guys can do whatever they want tbh

in my experience nokia's always have the most probs on orange and voda as they tend to run their own firmware. re flashing the phone with nokia firmware doesnt unlock it, it just means the phone runs to nokias spec, instead of a networks spec if that makes sense?! My gf has been with 02 for 7yrs so she may have had a slightly better deal than most, but id imagine it wouldnt be too much more?
id say go for the N96 and keep checking nokia for firmware upgrades.
As someone said above sony erricson are getting worse and worse for reliability, the only other phone id look at over the N96 is possibly the samsung m8800 pixon. ive never had an unreliable samsung yet, and this one has the 8MP camera and most if not all the features of the N96. id be seriously torn between those two, although i think the samsung would win it for me...
i wouldnt buy the n96. just got my contract upgrade last week and the phone is slow and the backlight doesnt come on sometimes
if the back light doesnt come on may well be a faulty handset mate!

Update your software. Mine did that a couple of times before update.
All 5 N95 8gb I had the loudspeaker went distorted. One had failed wi-fi, a few went slow and the slider became wobbly. The N96 looks better and is smaller, it's faster to use, transferring songs and data on to phone is quicker, the music player is far superior and it has more features and functions. Also now found I can stream programs from bbc iplayer without wi-fi.

i got a N96 but its only any use if you want to browse the net with it and watch tv with it..it is a good phone.
Have a lok at the N85.
Similar to the N96 but with better screen (OLED), bigger battery, much better battery life due to screen technology and battery, built in FM transmitter, lens cover and it's smaller.
