Colour change film for digi dash

here are a few photo's of my clocks now ive finished them,
Anyone thinking of do the same take my advise & dont delay as the differance it makes is unbeleaveable untill you see it for yourself the hardest part of it all is choosing which colours to have & in which order to have them ..... BRAVO TO DOM..!!
All you need to do now mate is to design a surround to go around the clocks so they fit nice & snug showing no gaps around the side & it will make the product a perfect buy "this is the only part i had probs with" As no 1 told me that they would be gaps around the edge that is to convert them into a cavalier mk3 as a finishing touch to a great idea,Am sure you could do that, If i can assist you in anyway in the future about anything at all please dont hessitate get in touch C ya Dom & stay & wise Cool

I'm just about here - just finished painting the living room.

Yes I can do it in Blue - most popular is blue and red (the red bits being the bits that dont change and the warning squares).

The picture Cobra148 put up actually has blue on the speedo - it has a slight green tinge to it (not as much as the photo though) due to the yellow in the halogen backlight bulbs.

The kits consist of 3 films which are fitted behind the LCD panels in the dash - fitting instructions and further pictures are at www.picbits.com

Kits are £15 inc p&p and you can have virtually any colour you want - I've just done a pink fade effect one for a mig girlie

    Cheers

    Dom

    Doe worry, just seen it on the website. looks good - Gotta be a certain pink I was thinking of though : 0{

I might be interested in getting a few of these from u (mine and m8t's cars!)

It's 15 quid including postage and I Just choose whatever combination of colours I want?

Would it be easier to make up a thing in photoshop to send u and u can match the colours then? Or is it easier just to tell u what i'm after?

    take it easy

    Hi Sam

Send me an idea of what you want in .jpg format and I'll have a go at it for you.

The only problem is that the colours on the dash always look different to those on the screen (sometimes quite different !!!)

Most of the time though they look good and apart from a couple of films that stuck together cos they got wet (packaging problem) I havent had any complaints yet.

Email address is sales@picbits.com if you want to send anything through.

    Regards

    Dom

    Are the bulbs are non-changable?

If they are changable I'll try making some LED "bulbs". I did it with the rear fog lamp switch... high light blue looks well nice. One prob... I don't use that switch that often! I'll post piccies, and front lamp switch is being done at the end of the month.

You need 12 high brightness (5000 mcd or higher) wide angled LED's to get a decent brightness from the dash. You mount 6 either side in a 3 x 2 LED combination. Just using a "plug and play" LED will not illuminate the dash properly - many have tried and failed.

obviously you need the right resistor (of which I have some) but do you have or can take any piccies of the led combo you would use... series or parral

PCB = Printed circuit boards - they are used for mounting the LED's.

I've got some I made for experimenting with LED's and the digidash but they need cutting and drilling. Each PCB has space for 6 LED's and 1 resistor. You also need to solder the LED's and resistor into place.

They mount in place of the Halogen bulb reflectors - its a tight fit but they work fine.

I'd only want a few quid for a set of them undrilled (you need to drill 5mm holes in them for the LED's to poke through) but you do need to know what you're doing.

No problems mate - I'll be in and out all weekend but I'll respond to your email. The boards are a little tricky to solder but if you take your time then you'll be ok.
