I fitted them on the cav. Just read the instructions carefully and take your time and youll be fine.![]()
Are they the sort that push-fit on to the amputated stumps? If so be careful not to sand too much away and you should be able to fit them snugly without any adhesive.
there were no instructions![]()
pete @ PVD said you have to cut your originals then 'slide' these on.
it looks like you just cut the old 1s and slide these on top?
i'll have a go anyway, whats the worst that could happen!![]()
cheers
The worst that could happen is if you cut them in the wrong place i guess. Will try to dig out my old instructions later if i can find them and see where you cut them. So is it a Vectra or a Cav?
vectra, that'd be cool if you can find em, not to worry if you can't.
time for the hacksaw then![]()
Cant put my hands on the destructions at the mo, but have found some pics one of which may or may not be of any use.
Iirc when you pull the rubber bit back there is a thin "ridge" on the stalk where the rubber bit locates. Cut the stalk of there JUST on the side closest to the actual switch part (if that makes any sense?) Then trial fit the new stalk on. If it dont go in the alloy part then san/file a SMALL amount off anf try again. Keep tryin after sanding small bits off rather than taking a load off then needing glue to fix them.
One side of mine i got carried away with and needed adhesive, the other side push fitted VERY snuggly.
Heres the pic. you can get a slightly better idea than with them fitted;

woohoodone it, cheers strick.
the right side was easy, just keep taking bits off and it just fits but like you said, the left 1 is different and once you've taken the lugs off, its a tiny bit too small but thats whats glues for!![]()
will post pix when its all back together
cheers again man
