Handbrake handle

I just got a new handbrake gaitior and handle but cant get the old handle off how do you do it?
My car is a Mk3 Astra

Brute force basically.
Never done one myself but heard many versions, ranging from molegrips to whacking a screwdriver in the back of it to split it open.

get a good grip on it and twist slowly side to side while pushing it forward will come off eventually

I just used a stanley knife and cut slices off the old one, kept doing that till the new one slid on so it was nice and tight. Good luck!!
