    Question Mk3 Astra Saloon Lowering

Ok, I've fitted Eibach springs (approx 30mm drop) but it would seem that the rear is sitting lower than the front.................. I'm sure this is just an optical illusion caused by the rear arch being straight across and the front one rounded....................... what I need to know is what's involved if I want to drop the front more, was thinking 50mm................!!??!!??

Fit a fook off gurt engine!!

No, seriously, give it a month mate, and it'll drop a fair bit more. My Eibach's began to get lower over time. My current custom front ones were even worse for a time, now they are just as low as the old Eibach's.

Cheers matey...................... got soooooooooooooooo many other things I wanna buy at the moment!! I know what's on the list, it's just doing the time to get the cash!!

I'm pretty sure you'll like the new and improved astra saloon at Billing, although I must say................... Ben21's one was very tasty!! Didn't realise he had the same boot spoiler as me!! Just wish I could afford a back box in time for Billing.................

Yeah, Ben21's is nice! Looked cool.

    Looking forward to seeing yours.

Trust me though, give the car a few 1,000k and it will drop a fair big more.

Dont go lower than 40mm, im telling ya. You will regret it, especially if a bigger engine is on the way.

Cool, well I'll be leaving the suspension side of things for a bit............................. thanks for the advice and info!!

10 more days and my bits from the bodyshop should be ready!!

I've put a picture in the gallery if anyone's interested in finding it??

Entitled 'Polaris New Alloys' or something!?!?

For the past 3 years of Billing I've had that ****e limp dogs todger of a backbox.....................!?!?!?

Just out of interest...... think an oval shaped exit will suit my car??

Tis what I have Neil. Nice oval back box!

But, I tell ya what would look nice. You ever seen the back box's on Senator 3.0 24v's? Ya know, the twin rectangular pipes, quite thin, but wide? Why not try getting one like that made up. Reckon that would look ace and quite sleek.

Yey cool! Smooth the finish off the boot lock and get it sprayed.

Pitty you don't have my old bumpers anymore!

Some nice Irmscher bumper extensions and side skirts would look nice on that. Also, some phase 2 rear lights. £18 each from Autovaux

Thanks for putting the pic up Si!!

Can't get Irmscher sideskirts............ or so I've been told!! The rear will have the valance soon, and the front will just have a standard bumper!! Your rear bumper still exists, that's the one that's going onto the rear!! The front one went off to Clacton somewhere!!

As for the rear lights........................... dude, it's gotta be the clear ones!! I don't drive around with them on anymore since a little **** puched the light and cracked it slightly.....................

Think I'll need to ask a mate for a favour, then speak to Powerflow!!

Soz Si, my mistake......... I know they were made, coz I love 'em............ but I can't get hold of them!! My Vauxhall dealer say they can no longer get any mk3 Astra Irmscher part!!

If that pic was of a flame red astra, that'd be virtually the same as Ben21's................... I really was sooooooooo impressed with it!!! Am gonna make sure I'm not parked anywhere near his, to make sure mine doesn't get overlooked in the saloon category!!

hi mate, i lowered my car on the weekend aswell and the car as a whole doesnt seem to have dropped much. Im hoping time will take its toll on it a bit! I'll post some piccys later. I dont know if i'll be going to biling, i seem to have been over looked by mr.williams(sent him a pm a while back but havent heard anything back?!) plus some complete a**hole through a fair sized brick at my car while it was parked up and put a nice dent in my wing. I'll see how the money flows and what pops up, might be able to get to biling yet!

Forgot to say your car looks really good, those wheels suit it down to the ground!

What shocks/springs did you use and what's the expected drop?? What size wheels/tyres you got??

Awwwwww, ****e dude, soz to hear about the damage!! Grrrrrrrr, it's made me mad and it's not even my car!! My last one got trashed twice by other feckers................... I swear I'd do damage to any fecker who marks this newer one...........!!

Thanks for the compliment about the alloys, I'm really chuffed with them, and everyone has said how great they look on the car!!

I got the koni sports kit(damp adjustable on car). The expected drop was 35-40mm but i dont think its gone more than about 25mm. I've got 15's at the mo with 195-50-15 tyres. These look way to small though so im gonna get some bigger ones soon.

    Cheers

Vauxmaster: thaks for the link, have sent an e-mail!!

Ben21: if you ever fancy selling your side skirts, let me know 1st!! As for the suspension, it should settle down and come down lower, I was told it takes about 1,000 miles!! What alloys you going for...................... and don't say my one's!!

What mods have you done to your engine, and what improvements have you seen?? I take it you have the C14SE!!??

    Thanks

i hope the suspension does drop more, if not im gonna buy lower springs cause its not low enough! I want one of these two alloys but havent made up my mind

    Which do you think?

I have got the c14se, what have i done? what havent i done!

I rebuilt it 4000miles ago, inc piston rings, oil stem seals, honed the bores, followers, lifters, springs, all new gaskets, added a piper fast road cam, vernier pulley, fse power boost valve, ecotek valve, NGK plugs, magnecor leads, k&n filter, ss cat back exhaust, and i think thats it!

The cam has given me about 9bhp but i need to get back on the rolling road as the timing needs adjusting, its currently making 90 bhp @ the flywheel(not enough!!!!!) I want to put a C20XE in it but that will probably be next year.

Future plans are new alloys, respray including colour coding the bumpers, de-handled, open mouth grill, GSI bonnet, and then the c20xe i hope. Oh and i want a GSI interior.

How about you? Future plans? Anything in the near future?

    Cheers, ben

Well I like those darker wheels if you're sticking with the black plastic sections on your car........ if you don't then go for silver/polished effect alloys!!

Wow, that's quite a bit of work you've done there!! I'm not sure whether to spend money on my engine or just get a c20xe!?!?

As for my plans, the styling is virtually finished, I'm going to be working towards the suspension/handling, then either complete interior change (probably 'sport' interior) or go for engine improvements............... coz I do kinda like my blue interior!!

    Talking power up

I advised ben to take his car back on the rolling road because i knew that it had more inside of her and she is now at 83bhp @ the wheels! from 75bhp @ the wheels (90@ the fly)

So i think he sould stick with the little 1.4 and keeping going!

maybe a T25 ben next, what do you think???

My Nova GTE is only at 90BHP @ the wheels! not far off!

Keep up the good work ben

    From (sideways boy)

Well thanks to everyone for the compliments on my car at Billing, made spending all that money a little easier on the mind!!

Unforunately, you probably won't see/hear of much else happening to her for a bit whilst I repay some of the debts!!

But when things are ok, it'll probably be dampers, strut braces and engine bits........................oh yeah, and a backbox!!
