    Replaced Arhces problem

Have just had my arches replaced on my cavalier, i come to have my first good look at it and i see as below that its totally bent compared to where it should be! both where it is suppose to be inline with the groove along the doors and onthe left where it blends into the rear quarter. I will take it up with the garage/welder i used tomorrow but i'm wondering what options i have to blend it in well. The groove i'm thinking i could just fill flat, but the piece at the back on the rear quarter is very much out of shape, i'm wondering if the panel could be beaten back up so its inline with the rest. Sorry for the essay but i'm rather peeved about this to say the least.

Yes, they've been fitted incorectly unfortunately. They're too low and no amount of filler will sort the line out, which follows along the doors.

Sorry to say it but they need to be cut out and re-welded higher up.

Look on the bright side, better that than them being too high up, needing more new panels.

That work looks terrible, sorry to see it mate, you must be well fu (.ked off. As was said, it looks about half an inch too low.

Surely the company will do it again, as they have not done it properly!

I mean the car would be mint without that, i gave it a quick glance as i was in a rush and handed over the money, i didnt think it would be pissed and is my fault for not spotting it. If they dont agree to make it fit PERFECTLY i think the welder will have to watch out. I refuse to pay £120 for some chimp to aim a welder in the vague direction of my rear wheel arch and say its a good job. And your right its really got to me, had been a successful day until this I mean, would you be proud of it looking like that? lol

I feel sorry for you mate. It seems funny that both arches have seemed to have been done craply, it's so obviously wrong innit.

Have you used that company/person before for any work, or did anyone recommend them?

the workmaship there is so bad its laughable.

Was this done by a legit bodyshop or by some dude doing a homer for you?

If a garage did that to my car, I would be back there sharpish with threats of Trading Standards involvement due to sub-standard workmanship.

Having said that though, Looking at those pics, frankly, I wouldnt want the guy anywhere near my car again.
If they have to re-do the arches at their own expense (as they really should) lets just say that the guy isnt realy going to be motivated to do a top-notch job is he? ok he might get the alignment right 2nd time around but God-knows what other botches he would commit in the process.

I have to agree that i wouldnt really want him near the car again! My dad knows someone that works in the MOT part of the garage and recommended him, it was cheap, and i thought i'd pulled a blinder. How wrong!!

I want a top notch job, in some peoples eyes its just a G reg cavalier so it doesnt matter. But for a car i want to keep for years to come i dont want it looking like that!! I'm going down there tomorrow morning at 9 am dead on sort it out, and i wont leave until i have sorted it!

yeah thats the guy, i've just been down there and have been told he's not part of the garage. And its his own place. Its just near woodley shopping precinct and he has a few wide arch mini's out front. Names peter.

If you see my thread in mig torque its a bit clearer as to what he done, hes basically left the old panel in and welded over the bloody top!!
