Citroen Saxo help!!!...

Hi, the gilfriend has got a little saxo, and is wanting a chrome gear knob on. thing is, i aint 100% sure how to get the existing one off!!

Have got the top off, but unsure where to go from here!! Do i just twist the gear knob (but looks like this will break plastic clip, which looks like it hold gator in place also), or is there another method??

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

You actually have to cut them off on the Saxo's.
