fitting veccy handles on a cav!! problems

Today Me and Tin Tin fitted vectra door handles to my GSI cav, apart from making tin tin bleed!!!everything appeared to go well. But when i unlock the car with the central locking/alarm phob the 2 front door pins do not go high enough to unlock the 2 front doors, the rears appear to be fine also when i go to open the drivers side by pulling the handle the central locking cuts in and the pins go back down wtf is going on ??? It currentley has vectra de locked handles all round fitted with vectra backing plates, the passenger side central locking has been disconected, but the drivers side is connected. Please could someone help me.

Would fitting vectra linkage/operating rods cure this prob ??

Try putting a small bend in the rod you`ve got, it worked for me.

Yep I used the original Cav rod with the Veccy handle & back plate though I had to keep the lock on drivers door.

I put a small kink in the rod about halfway up, this is to give enough throw to fully turn the lock.

    Have you got deadlocks ?

I belive i've got deadlocks,i've delocked the drivers side, but i'm using the origional drivers side vectra backing plate as this way i can connect the micro connection to the backing plate.I'll have to investigate it a bit more 2morrow,

Bleed would be an understatement God dam, it was a gusher, i was seriously considering an ambulancelmao I aint never working on another car again. Bloody South Central posse all cause me to bleed. I would have sucked on my finger so as not to waste the blood, but my fingers were dirty.

With reference to this problem, what Shady is trying to say Is, the microswitch on the nearside has been dissconnected so as not to trigger accidently but the off side has been left in the original position. Both front doors have been de-locked but we've used the original linkage from the handle to the lock mechanism. When i did mine i used the Vectra linkage and all is fine

Could it be the linkage is too short or a slightly different shape? What has every one else done when they've fitted theirs?

    Guys,

If all you've done is swap the handles it's nothing to do with them. The central-locking motor is connected to the door catch not the handle. I could understand if pulling the handle didn't open the door as there's an adjuster at the end of the rod.

Swapping the handles should not interfere with lock/unlock

Thats what i would have thought, it was purely an idea owing to the fact that mine are fine. The only difference between the two is the linkage between the handle and catch.

The above thread (see link) is very welcome but none of the pics work? Thanks for the info though as I've been thinking of doing this myself.
