thats mad
I WANT ONE
Nice one.
You going to wire up all the sensors to?
LOL! That'll take you months to wire in properly! The Astra GSi has the connectors for that as an integral part of the loom for all the sensors. You'll have to get it re-programed for the fuel consuption etc as it'll give false readings.
If you have the patence, you might wanna fit a whole GSi car loom into yours. But that's a bitch in itself. Bren has done it with his!
Astra Sports have them too.
I tried fitting one to my Wife's CDX, but couldn't find the connector, although it may well be in there, but well hidden like my Cav one.
Good mod for GTEs though!!

im making my own loom for the sensors etc, and reprogrmaing isnt a problem via tis and tech2
not sure theres a program for the 1.4 spi though

here you go Olly, just so you know what to expect your car to look like mid wiring lmao

All that Late Cavaliers had the loom, Tight @rses !!
May get one for the GTE though as most of the wiring is there already.

Olly, that a bongo mag on your passenger seat?
Mark they are not wired unless fitted because it's also bulb failure. And the bulb wiring is in series with the unit so if the bulb failure unit plug was left disconnect the cars lights wouldn't work.
Vauxhall could have
a) fit the wiring only on models it;s used (what they have done)
b) fit a loop back connector which is more trouble than it;s worth
P.S mark : you don't happen to know what colours are for a dawoo clock ? Got one today for my dads mini.
Think red is +12v
red/yellow ignition.
But what's earth ?
Oh I'll have to take it apart

Olly. to wire this in you need sensors everywhere, brakes, bulbs etc. Its not just taking the dash out, its taking every panel off, everywhere.
Bren actually replaced his full loom with a GSI one, rather than trying to butches the sensors on everywhere.
At the end of the day for all the hours work this will take? Whats the point? It wont get you anymore money if you sell the car, and as soon as you open the bonnet, people know it isnt a real GSI.
Computer is pretty ****e anyway TBH<

Once you've done it once... its a quick (er) job...
(stuff in boot and body panels is sound deadening before anyone asks)
adding the sensors afterwards is easy - once uve stripped the actual sensor looms out of a few gte's/gsi's and seen where everything goes - even the bulb fail isnt to hard tbh ( i know of a girl who added the complete system to her nova in a weekend!)Originally posted by DaveB

im adding mine for a reason - with the engine spec im chasing, i want to know the very second the oil level drops below what it should b, the other stuff will b useful to tell me how much fun i have left
PhilAstra@Hotmail.com
coolant level, washer and bulb fail are very usful.
Brake pad sensor is a pain and not worth fitting.
I would only bother connecting the oil sensor up if you have transplanted an engine with a sensor fitted
or have a very shagged engine that looses massive amount of oil.
I am going to get round to fitting one of these eventually to my Nova.
I have the 20XE (with DIS) that was fitted to the Astra GSi's so the loom is already there, just a case of wiring it in![]()
Also the controls that you can get on the indicator stalks is cool too, from an Omega or summit???

The loom is in the Car loom, not engine loomApart from maybe the Oil Level indicator. So you'd need to either make the loom, or get it from an Astra, or possible cav. (seeing as they do the same things as the Cav's !)
The Astra had the indicator stalk controls too, along with the Carlton, yes.
I though information came from the ECU, so it can measure MPG etc....
I dunno all the functions of these units, what goodies are they packed with?

It's the wiper stalk you need !!!!
Well you could use an cruise control indocator switch if you rearly wanted.
It's basically a check control system (fluid levels and bulb fail) with fuel computer.
Yes fuel used is from the ecu. M2.8 will be slightly different to M2.5.
M2.5 was used in the GSi wasn't it ?
Mine has. Instant Consumption, Average Consumption, Average Speed, Range, Stopwatch and outside Temp.
On the dash it's got, Washer Bottle Level, Radiator Bottle Level, Headlight/Sidelight check, Rear light check, Oil Level check, brake Pad Check. Think thats it.
Dunno if the Astra has all those in the computer or not. I would assume so !

There's a circuit board behind the speedo... think that sends information to the computer as well. Don't think it's al ldone in the ECU ... think it's all in the trip computer itself !
I'm sure Andy can let me know if i'm wrong !

2.8 was Astra GSi, some cavs, some Calibras.Originally posted by Andy K
