gearbox chroming?

seen on some cars the gear boxes are chrome, i assume they are powdercoated, is it safe to get your gearbox powdercoated if u drive the car daily, on terms of heat etc....also do u need to strip the fulll gearbox down to get it done, i mean all the insides etc? any help will be much appreciated

when i powder coated gboxes i always did them striped .. it is safe
