Spacers - no, with an ET35 offset your wheel is already 14mm further out than the standard vauxhall 49 offset.
    Tyres - 205 40 17 would be best.

Aye, I'm sure they will miss springs etc. It's the arches that they will rub.

    ET35 is a VW offset.

The lowest offset wheels I've seen that come on an Astra Mk3 as standard are ET46.

So it is only going to kill you when you have a blow out. What a retarded way to look at a dangerous modification.

    lmao at the over reaction.

Mk3 astras usually take a 40 offset with no rubbing so you might get away with 35 if the rear lit is rolled or cut back. It depends on the car

Go on to Online Wheel & Tyre Fitment calculator. Offset and Tyre Stretch and measure the difference from the ones you have now to the arches

Re: what tyres would be best

Go onto the site I linked to mate and put the size of your current wheels and tyres in and of the ones you want to fit. It will give you the difference in inset and poke so you can measure from the wheels you have fitted now with a tape measure and figure out if they will rub or not.

Obviously you dont want them rubbing constantly as the tyres wont last it.

Re: what tyres would be best

He is in this thread mate and it wasn't a difficult question. Obviously saying they can just rub because they look good is stupid bit its hardly worthy of the responce he got.

Leaving his other posts/threads out of it what way do you think a new member would take it if they were to read this one alone?

Re: what tyres would be best

    Ian,
what I think people are trying to get at is that GM spent a fortune on getting the suspension angles correct and if you choose to use a totally different ET (offset) than standard, then you are totally screwing up just about every suspension angle the car was designed with. messing with it changes everything and most certainly makes handling worse. 205/40/17s sound fine as long as they miss the spring pan, no spacers required, just some wheels that are ET49. What did the car come with?

My suggestion - sell your wheels, especially as you need tyres, some proper fitting wheels, maybe some with tyres already on, or buy tyres, hoon around with a smug smile, out-handling everybody.

see when i tried wheels on the gap was not so bad ive seen alot lower with less gap to be honest dont get how my wheels a problem as my offset is 35 and mk3 astra is 35-42 so i dont see how they will be a death trap like mentioned lol but if need be ill just sell them and get something else not the end of the world all i wanted was a tyre size instead i get aload of **** from folk my brother said it should be ok he has porchshe on his polo
