    rattling sound inside the cabin!!!

recently, my car hasn't been idling as smoothly as before and it has caused some rattling going on inside the cabin.

I can't trace the sound to the exact area It seems to be from the A pillar driver's side.

any suggestion on where/how can i get it fixed??

Are the interiors of the MK3 astra known to be poorly built with low quality materials (doesn't look like it to me)

You own a Vauxhall...be grateful that you only have one rattle lmao .

No, only joking, the Mk3 is supposed to be much better than earlier models. Tracking down rattles can be a real pain though. Just see if pressing parts of the interior stops the rattling. This usually works for finding the rattle.

Yeah!! I've pressed, hold, shoved paper in gaps but still can't find the f*ckin culprit!!

it seems to be inside some fittings/panel. u think bodyshops will be able to help?? It rattles on and off........being there most of the time.

I removed steering column, speedo panel and tighten whatever screws i see and still it rattles.

    Its really driving me nuts!!

but seriously, are vauxhalls (minus the new generations) known to have poor quality interiors?? it looks rather good to me, but are they poorly built??

A body shop probably wouldn't be able to do anything you couldn't.
As for build quality, the Mk3s are far better than earlier models, but interior quality has moved on an awful lot in the last ten years since they were made. As good as anything comparable though.

The door cards & parcel shelf in my Mk3 Cav used to rattle like buggery. A few well positioned small self-tapping screws have cured it.

i'm getting a bodyshop take a look at the rattle around the A pillar (at least thats where it sounds like) tomorrow.

sh*t!! i used to own a 7 year old toyota corolla and it didn't rattle like that even over bumps!!

i didn't remember it rattling like that, before changing to a sparco wheel. now even switching back to the factory wheel doesn't make a difference. it still rattles!!

was at the bodyshop today. the guy didn't want to go through the trouble of tracing the sound. He told me to get a car audio shop or a interior upholstery guy look at it.

Are audio shop guys known to be good with such stuff??

what do u guys think?? which sounds like a better bet??

I'm still not sure what they can do that you can't. All they can do is pull it apart where the sound is coming from and try to identify what it is.
    Sorry, this doesn't help.

exactly, i don't have the know-how or the proper tools to pull it apart. Its really rather annoying having it rattle everytime u stop at the lights.

Furthermore, i didn't buy the car like that, it only happened a week ago and its driving me nuts!!

In that case it's worth trying. I thought from your earlier posts that you had already tried that. I'll read them closer next time.
    Good luck.

my car used to also creak when i would go over bumps or around coners - at first i thought something may be seriously wrong with my chassis - but traced it to my door pins - i took the pins out cleaned the brackets up and got new pins from vauxhall at 40p for each side -wacked inloads of grees and all creaks dissapeared

i got the rattle sorted out last week by my mech, turned out to be the ECU loom area, i think the wires or somethin was vibrating against the fender.

It certainly sounded like it was from the driver side A pillar.

yeah, the passenger door panel does creek going over bumps. i'll take a look at the pins.

    thanks andy.

Just get a Peco BB4 and drill some more holes in it, then you wont be able to hear the rattle and you'll have an ACE zaust note too, wicked eh?
