    Bubbled paint work ?

Some of my paintwork has bubbles slightly near the rear arch, i`ve sorted the rust underneath , but these bubbles are solid, i thought they would "burst" when i applied pressure to them, then i would have sorted them out, but when i applied pressure, they are solid, didnt crack up or ought ?

Is this the metal flexed due to the rust ?

    Cheers.........

Nope, it's rust and water that's got in underneath the filler. Basically the filler has lifted away from the paint. Looks like it wasn't repaired or had the rust fully removed / metal protection behind it.

If you were to chip off the bubble, you'd find that the metal work behind would be weeping with rust.

I have experienced this with a car before.

Again it was on a rear arch (A Vauxhall to, so no great suprise there). When I questioned the bosyshop about it, this is what they told me and make of it what you like:-

'Water gets between the two panels (rear arches are double skinned). No matter how long they leave the car in the oven, it isn't possible to get it all out. The filler on the other hand does tend to draw the water out, thus bubbling under the paint.'
