    fitting new springs and shocks (cally)

    springs and shocks
    how easy a job is it?? i have the haynes just wondered
    if any one has done it and any tips PLEASE....

    the springs are a 35-40mm drop.....

    You will need "spring compressors" and something to split the ball joints.

    Some people take two days to do this job, David Dickson did the springs on my astra in an hour and a half and the springs and shocks on his Calibra in two hours.

    Depending on the condition of the car it can be a total PIG to do, just start early in the morning.

    You'll need a substantial vice & a big lever (I use a scafold pole) to remove the gland nut in the strut, when changing the front dampers.
