I've got the section out around the gearstick with the cassette holders in, but the bit under the handbrake will not budge. I've taken the single screw out from under the little blank. I assumed it just slides backwards like on a 8V, but mine will not move. Even tried using an improvised punch and whacking it backwards with a mallet, to the point I'm worried I'm going to break it.
Am I missing something?

im sure there are two screws eather side in the footwell and one behind the cassette case have to lift the gearstick gator and take the bit that holds the cassette cases that goes down to the gear stick.also did you get the one under the cloth thing between seats where you put your mobile lol hope this makes sence.
used to undo this when i used to mess with my motion sensor on my clifford
I've got the cassette holder section out already. So you're saying I have to peel the carpet up in the little tray behind the handbrake to reach a screw underneath?

yea and its attached at the front on the sides of the footwell if there is any more think you have to take the heater panel to take it out.
been about 7 years since i have done it lol
