Were from, I've been looking for the arches
its a bit over rated. Its worth the money if you have it as its a weight saving again. The price difference does not really warrant this saving unless your rich or a race team that has the money to throw at it. Repairs and dag work on carbon fibre is very easy, much easier than fibre glass. carbon fibre also has more of a flexible element to it so its less likely to crack under load and through shock. But it tends to shatter on impact so make sure you catch cracks or holes early and repair. The best thing about it is that it does not lose any strength when repaired.
Hope this helps!

'power makes you faster down the straights, lightness makes you faster everywhere' mr c chapman.
these guys are spot on!! well worth trying to catch them at a show, they will offer all sorts of discounts, I bought 3 well sized sheets at PV for £30 and have so far managed to make wing mirror blanks inside and out a full centre console and glovebox blank cover all with plenty to spare, might knock up some VIN plates and some bits for the corsa.
Soz not quite 100% correct almost... carbon fiber is very strong in one direction (well stronger than steel) and is used to strengthen areas/directions of weakness etc... The carbon used on car parts and on aircraft is woven to given strength in two directions allowing the molded part to be very thin and very strong. Most other car parts are made from cheap chop strand and not woven cloth (even though it can be brought) These strands just sit on top of each other, which makes them more prone to cracks and failure and need to be three to four times the thickness of fiber woven glass cloth and even more than carbon fiber to add the same strenght! Making Carbon fibre parts the lightest on the market.. but not always the strongest. But one thing to remember is no molded part is that good in a crash... however they tend to be easy to fix
So if you want a car that is light and sporty carbon is the way to go.. but if you're after looks then a standard chop strand molded part is fine, just reinforce it with some woven glass cloth and maybe some 1-2" kevlar around areas that flex more. However if you can get a good fiber glass woven cloth part it'll be half way between the two.
If its helps any, I'd go for the carbon parts any day of the week.![]()
Carbon fibre splinters hurt like feck though![]()
