Lighter..... dammit....
Okay....
The situation is... I have a 5dr 1.3L Mk2 Astra. The engine is in great nick (60k miles for an F-Reg), but its not worth the money to sell, so Ive decided to donate it to myself in the name of research (And a little bit of fun..!?!?
)
So, In about a month we'll be stripping the bugger and trying to make her a little quicker, without spending hardly anything!
A couple of questions are;
If I take out the rear seats, am I then able to strip the rear doors and seal them shut?
And, is there anything I need to be aware of whilst taking stuff out?!?
Also, any ideas on getting cheap performance from a 1.3...?!?! (As if...I hear you all say...!)
Any advice?

For a mine of information on tuning the 1.3, have a look at Tom Sticklands site HERE and 1.3 Mods Here
I believe he had close to 100BHP from his little 1.3 at one point.

loose the silencers,
Run with just pipe, I saved about 7 kg, cars fairly loud now but can still pass a mot

Nice idea!
You reckon it'll still pass?
Its actually a handy idea too, cos I was planning on making mock side exausts (So it'll have a touring look, and if I use that idea, sound!!)

i have passed two mots with no silencers, both at different garages,
Just as long as the fumes come out the back they will be happy, My exhaust i have been told is really loud when booting it though, scott g who was behind me when i put my foot down said he was looking for the large engined car, then he realised it was me
Think the limit is 110db but i wouldnt think any MOT station would test for that
