Using tapered wheel bolts on a flat surface

    This a big no no??

I've got some new wheels for my celica which are off a later model.

My standard wheels/nuts have a taper on them, the new wheels have a flat surface for a nut and washer i guess.

Only need to do about 80 miles on them so i can get the wheels milled slightly to fit tapered bolts.

Will i die a horrible death

    ta

    matt

FFS, just pick up the correct type wheel nuts/bolts from a wheel/tyre shop - cheaper in the long run.
If you can't, or don't want to, then use the stock wheels and get a local machine shop to stick them on a mill and get them done properly.
If you try using a taper on a parallel, the alloy will rapidly deform, the wheel will loosen and you'll have the wheel fall off, break studs and/or chew up the wheels - heck, you may well strike the triple!
Then your insurance company will laugh and tell you to go away.

Yup, been there, done that - then find them everywhere after paying a premium.
Just make SURE the parallel section is a correct fit, the washer doesn't hang up and the bolts aren't too long. Good time to pick up some locking ones, while you're at it!
