paint info machines

finally got round to getting the nova booked in to get the front end painted. now those that have seen it know that its a wierd colour of blue, well i was talking to the painter about it today and he told me not to worry about paint shade differences as he can take over a wing mirror cover to a paint supply shop and have it placed on something that examines the paint and can print out all the info of the paint colours used to mix up the finishing colour. how accurate are these machines and has anyone ever had to use one.
