    Metal XE plug cover

Im in the process of polishing a XE rocker cover, I have 2 metal plug covers too, which one is vertually polished but im finding it very hard to sand in between the lettering to get it smooth enough to polish up.

One i dea i have is to grind off all the lettering so its perfectly flat and polish it up.

Does anyone think this would look good or not?

Or do i persevere with the sanding and keep the lettering?

    What does everyone else think?

    what ive done so far

    what ya reckon?

its vertually impossible to see the imperfections on the pics, but there's still rough surfaces around the letterings, so up close and personal it doesnt look as good. ANy ideas people?

I dont want to grind off the lettering on the spare metal one i have and spoil the sought after metal plug cover if you know what i mean

Its worth £20 mate so grind off the letters and see if you like it. If you dont then polish it anyway and stick it on ebay

When you machine them flat you have two problems. The first and most annoying is bubbles in the alloy meaning you can end up with holes in the alloy that looks **** and basically means it's scrap or secondly you will allways see a shadow in the metal of the letters like this.....

But if looked at from an angle it isn't as noticable like this...........

I also like the contrast of the standard red plug cover which sometime IMHO looks better then polished...

You'll be doing well to polish all the casting marks out TBH but they look good which ever way you go. Nice work

yeah was having this dicusion with the mrs and i said i prefered the contrast with the standard red plug cover on. IMO i like the standard better but she said the polished one so was just seeing what will look better.

I can also agree with the comment on the shadow of the lettering too. It looks highly polished but you will still be able to see the lettering telling as vauxhall intended it anyway.

Think ill have a few different ones to change about every now and then lol.

not gonna work fella, trust me ive tried. a dremel aint really gonna do you any good at all in any tight letterig spaces like those.

Ive been polishing for a couple of years and still yet to find the best way to get between things like that
