Engine bay preppign and rust removal before paint
Ive taken the engine out of my astra van as im painting the engine bay.
I need to remove some rust,it is only surface from what i can see but its gonna take abit of work to get rid of it.
I normally use b & q garden tool rust remover (good stuff!) along with a wire brush etc,i could do this but its gonna take ages as theres quite a few areas that need attention.
Ive got a shot blasting gun with my compressor so i thought of using that on the worst affected artea which is one of the chassis legs, one the paint and rust are removed just etch and normal prime over it.
Does anyone think this is a good idea? Ive never used the shot blasting gun before so im not sure how effective it is.

Re: Engine bay preppign and rust removal before paint
Iv just shot blasted the engine bay of my nova using a small Clark gun. I found it really effective at removing surface rust aswell as the 16 years worth of sh**t and oil etc that was all over it. Came up really well, i used aluminium oxide grit from machine mart.

The gun comes with sand to shot blast with so hopefully that will do the job.
