    Question Replacement Vx220 Seats!

    HI,

I've just bought a new VX220 in Orange with black leather seats - absolutly fantastic car BUT i just can't get comfortable in the seats!

Does anyone know if I can buy replacement seats that would be more comfortable?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Or sell it and buy a proper car- plenty of change left for a super large power hairdresser too.

I quite like the 220 myself ! although would wait for the turbo version !

I imagine you could fit any of the after market ones such as Recaro, Cobra etc etc, just check to see if they make a base for the vx220, if not check to see if it the same as any other vx (probably will be)

Dammit simon thats just what i was thinking.

Moogerz obviously Simon said something first but if he changes his mind PM me please.

I love the seats in the vx220 but you don't find many in scrap yards.

If your wanting a more comfortable seats probably best looking at something like the Cobra Sidewinder or Cobra Opus seats

    Sidewinder

    Opus

You can get sets with universal subframes for about 600 - 650.

Thanks for the advice! Just called Cobra and they reckon the universal subframe wouldn't fit the car. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

You could adapt your existing seat-subframes to fit the new seats, I've done this to fit 90's spec RST Recaros on to my Mk2 seat subframes

All it takes is tools, Balls and a LOT of head scratching

I'd agree with what gander says. If universal one doesn't fit and none made for you car then you could try fitting current subframes.

Without seeing underside of subframes or cobra seats difficult to say howe big a job it would be.

Not sure who originally made the VX220 seats but i'd take a guess at recaro (they make most other vaux sports seats)

If so they might be able to sort you out with some comfier seats that fit their subframes.

Oh BTW did i mention your a lucky git. Those cars are gorgeous.

I have been in touch with Vauxhall and they have advised me to get in touch with Lotus to see if they can help. I'll be contacting lotus tomorrow. So you think they could be Recaro's?

The problem i'm having is actually lower back - theres a lumbar support but that doesn't seem to help. The padding just doesn't feel think enough.

The car is AMAZING and drives like no other car i have driven just need to sort the bloody seats out! LOL

If i remember correctly, the VX220 is based on an elise, so the elise subframes for recaro/cobra (etc) seats might fit. give lotus a call and ask what they think on the matter.

Maybe as a quick fix, i am certain Sparco do some hand-pump inflatable lumbar supports that velcro onto the lower area that is giving u grief.....might be worth while as either a temporary or permanent solution, plus removable so if u dont like it send em back?!?!

check in Demon Tweeks mag 2002, page 126 £37.60......'Pneumatically adjustable lumbar support. This can be used with Sparco seats or original production seat.Black only'

    hope this might help mate

Ah so it's not the seats you don't like just need more back support?

Inflatable lumber support sounds like it's worth a try lot cheaper than replacing the seats. (what am i saying )

Shooting yaself in the foot there Fenix if u wanted to buy the seats!lmao

If its simply lumbar support u need more off £33 is alot better than £600+ for really good new seats!!!

Yeah i know but i don't see why someone should spend a fortune when theres a cheap option just because i want his seats.

Too honest for my own good.

Thanks Guys! I've been onto Lotus and they said i could bring the seats to them and would put extra padding in as a"one off" - it sounds like they have had a lot of people complaining about them. Very nice of Lotus i thought!

Prior to that i have contacted Cobra, Recaro etc and all have said that none of there seats fit the VX220!

    Just need some sunshine now!!!!
