    Nova Dash

    Hi,

I have a Mk1 Nova and I really dont like the dash, I was just wondering if any of my fellow nova owners have put any different dashes in.

    Cheers.

Do you mean the whole dash board or just the dials? You can fit a Mk2 Nova dash which is better, and/or a digi dash from an Astra.
Alternatively, I have some mk1 GTE dials (six dials) for sale which you can have for £20

It's not that difficult to do really probably about 1/2 days work if everything is included main problem is the different heater matrix ask ste_sa for advice on that.

if ytour buying a mk2 dash make sure it comes with

Glovebox with unknackered door (prone to going)
    Centre console and parcel shelf
    Working hazard switch
Ends of all plug looms for mating up with mk1 loom
Mk2 clocks. they have 3 screw housings to attach clocks to dash.
    All heater pipes
    Steering wheel surround

Colin smith usually has mk2 dashes in stock just make sure all bits are included as i didn't get parcel shelf or centre console but then again i didn't ask for them.

Sorry colin smith is a guy who sells a lot of nova bits.

    novarally is his website.

    Prices.

On average your looking at aroung 70 for a std mk2 dash (Grey)
or 100 for a mk2 GSI dash (Black, looks much nicer)

    Done this one...

The dash is a straight swap but a couple of the electrical connectors are different. The one to watch out for is the heater switch, it looks the same but all the pins are swapped over. You don't need a new heater matrix but it's all the ducting from it you do. You'll also need the cables for the heater controls as they're different.

Other than cutting it in half you'll need to take the wheel off to swap them over, the hardest part I found was getting the fuse box to fitin it's new mounts, LOL.

    Refit in reverse order.......... lmao

    Owain,

Read my post from above with the pictures. It's sraight forward enough but it's the little jobs that take the time. You'llalso have to remove the steering wheel to get the job done.

The fan electrical conections are the ones I'm talking about. Can't say if the matrix mechanical cables are different as I just used the new ones with the dash.

The steering wheel needs a proper "puller" as you don't want to damage the column, hitting it with a hammer from behind might work but you wouldn't catch me doing it.
