    sikaflex ??

i have cut a rear bumper of a peugeot 406 up to fit on the back of my belmont bumper and need to bond it together. would sikaflex be up to the job or am i better finding something else. it is two plastic surfaces being joined so is it any good for that.
can anyone give any pointers to where i can get it from or a phone number for them.
    many thanx.

i dont know about sikaflex, but if it was me i would screw/bolt the two parts together as well to add strength, and take some of the load of the bondant.
I am sure someone will say otherwise, but it cant hurt.

i've put a couple of self tapping screws in at the mo just to line it all up, but didn't really want to leave them on as they don't look right, hence the sikaflex question. any other suggestions?

put them two together, then put a fibreglass skin over the whole thing... make it smooother too, and look as one.

    its a suggestion!

i work with sikaflex everyday m8 and believe me m8 when i say it is WICKED it will stick anything and still stay plyable (rubbery)

omly thing is if you want to take it off in the future forget it unless you are prepaired for the use of a sander and a lot of swearing

I would screw the two bumpers together from behind then sikaflex round the edges and then fibreglass resin all joins and sand down. Its the only way to do the job right and you can still take it off etc later.Remember to screw from the back and when its all solid take the screws out,if you do it from the front the fiberglass may react with the screw heads!
    Good luck

    wont the fibre glass crack?

ive got a similar project on the go - and ive been adivised to plastic weld them 2gether, rather than use fibreglass

no not if you use fibreglass resin, and lots of it.did you see the flippy calibra with the cosworth whale tail that body kit is constructed of entirely fibreglass as long as you set it properly you will have no problems, trust me

Andy fibreglass will crack, what you have to ensure is you get the right mixture of resin and harnderner.

Mix the resin and hardener to the right consitancey and then brush it on the fibreglass and you should/might be ok.

Yeah i remember but what your saying could be misleading, its not just the resin in the mixture of the resin/hardener/ matting that means it wont crack.
