Glovebox Light

i dont seem to have one in my corsa sport, nor does there seem to be any wiring for one!

so any ideas what wires i need to fix where and how etc, to have a light in the glovebox?

quite easy to do really, firstly you need the light, (obviously) from a scrappy for a bout a quid, just open the glovebox and prise it down and take the whole unit, depending on how long the wire is you may have to remove the glovebox (only a few screws) and cut it closer to the loom, but if you do it my way (a bit neater) you will have to extend the wires anyway but just make sure you take enough with you. when you remove the light its very important you dont forget the little switch as this turns the light on and off when you close/open the glovebox its a little tiny plastic thing that once youve removed the light will just flap about and is really quite small just prise it out of the box with a flat screwie, may damage the glove box a little trying to get out out but ah well not yours!

once youve got the light out the way i did it was to wire it the the fag lighter, black to black (ignition live) and brown to brown, i used those little clips that you just clip the two wires together and it connects them inside, but i suppose you could shove the wires into the back of the fag lighter plug and tape it all up, as long as they are touching and they're secure, depend how you want to do it.

it can be wired into the main loom if you want, black to black and i assume theres a brown earth wire running through there somewhere but to be honest i couldnt be arsed untaping it all, if you just undo the 4 screws on the ashtray, the wires are there for you to use. the fag lighter is already fused for you aswell and the light doesnt draw much current at all so no problems with it blowing really

its pretty simple really you could probably work it out just by looking, just dont forget the small clip to turn it on/off and basically just remove your glovebox, push the clip into place, push the light into place and join the two wires, your glovebox will already have the holes for everything.

i took my light out of a n reg corsa ls you shouldnt have much trouble finding one i think they were fitted in all the old corsas except merits up to about 96/97 i think
when i got mine i thought i hadnt wired it up right but turns out the bulb had gone if you go the scrappy you may get a duff one but you can use the bulb from interior light or from the boot for testing.
