    Irmscher bodykit for Mk4 Astra

Just been looking at the Vauxhall web site for a front and rear skirt, side skirts and a spolier. Thing is, it would total about £1500 (if not more) for the lot. Holly s@#t.eek:

Anyone got a nice silver one for sale? Or any clue who might sell these items cheaper?

Any ideas / offers gratefully appreciated

    Ian

p.s. Sorry for posting this here as wellas on the "wanted" board:

Speak to Steve Crook at Leicester Motor Factors then Mr Cow, he can get and has the stuff at a vastly reduced rate than what Vaux charge.

    lmao!! Hehe,

Speak to LEE69, he's your area and I think knows a good bodyshop or two.

Tis a pity I'm not still down there. Used to be in Truro every week as part of work.

Thanks again! LEE 69 are you around????

So then, do you reckon that this'll affect my insurance at all or invaladate my warranty?? The cars only 10 months old you see. Would love the work but have to think about the long term.

    Thanks again Si

Doubt it'll do much to the insurance as it's not a massive kit.

It shouldn't invalidate the body warranty cause no bodywork is being repaired. Just stuff being added. If it's done professionally and to a high standard I doubt Vauxhall would quiry it since it's Irmscher anyway.

    Ahh, the same thread.

As Simon says, speak to Steve. If you're lucky, he might have one already sprayed. I was offered a Silver kit several weeks back, would have went for it if it weren't for the fact that my insurance would have went up by 120 quid a year. This is with Directline with 0 no claims. Check with your insurance company first.

hmm dunno about that si - vaux got a bit funny when i took it in 2 have my rust sorted

"oh uve modified it, erm we cant do that arch coz a stone could have caused the rust as a result from being flicked up by the larger wheels" a letter is on its way to vaux HQ...

I got my rust sorted recently (was below the fuel filler) and was told they would only do it as a result of a manufacturing defect. The last page of the service booklet also states that they only guarantee it against perforation if it occurs "as a result of defective materials or workmanship". So unfortunately a stone chip doesn't count.

yeah i know that but its on the forward facing bit of the arch (had to describe without a pic). if u drew a line from the centre of the hub towards the front of the car its there. IMHO theres NO WAY that was caused by a chip - especially as theres no damaged paint and its rusting from the inside

OK, fair enough, yeah I know what you mean

If it's rusting from the inside then they I reckon they have to sort it out under warranty. Do let us know if the letter to Vauxhall had any effect.

If not, you could try one of the magazines like What Car- I read about a case where Nissan tried to get out of not sorting out rust on the roof- usual "caused by stone chips, blah, blah", until What Car contacted them.

I phoned direct line who I am with also. Me too with no no-claims rip off (oooops I mean bonus). They only wanted about £20 for the year.

Jon, am I much older than you or something (23)?? Mines an Sxi, perhaps thats where the difference lies.

I tried calling that Steve bloke and only got an answering machine. Will try again tomorrow.

Roughly speaking, how much do reckon it'll cost??

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm new to the site and its encouraging to get all this response.!

Well, they wanted £30 for the remainder of the policy which was 3 months so I extrapolated that to £120 for the year. I'm 26 actually. The SXi 1.6 16V is group 5, compared to my CD which is group 6. It's either that or location.

I was quoted £495 for the kit (front, side and rear skirts) in Star Silver, he only had one left at the time. I suppose it could depend on what he has in stock. If you leave a message he should get back to you (he always did in my case).

Glad you're finding this site useful. I did, which is why I eventually became a paid-up member

    On the insurance issue.....

They wanted £6 (yes six whole pounds!) for the remainder of my year (about 6 weeks) but only about £20 for the whole year. Might be worth checking it again.

Price sounds good, far more realistic than Vauxhalls £2k. Robbing b'stards.

    Cheers again,

    Ian
